Peonies, with their layers upon layers of petals, are some of the most breathtaking flowers in nature. Arriving in May and blooming through June, it is truly one of my favorite flowers, along with the classic rose. The colors arrange from pure white to pink and peach to clear red and dark maroon. Yellow is very rare.
Peonies are a traditional favorite for bridal bouquets, alone or mixed with roses or other classic blooms. Their soft, silky petals and delicate fragrance lend a romantic touch to floral styles ranging from traditional to modern.
Keep in mind that their bloom time is only a few weeks in late spring. Some brides purposely select a wedding date in May or June in order to use peonies in their wedding (and I don’t blame them!).
